A cosy lunch at Salt Cafe

Looking for a cosy spot to hide away from the weather and grab a bite to eat? Salt Cafe at WicorMarine Yacht Haven in Porchester, is so warm and inviting, here’s my delicious lunch review from my first visit.

On a wet, cold and windy December day I went over to Salt Cafe in WicorMarine Yacht Haven for a spot of lunch and to escape from the awful weather. Hidden away in the marina is a gorgeous waterside cabin that was a wonderful retreat that I reckon would be just as lovely in summer too!

The interior is mega cute and there’s a cabinet full of gorgeous treats like massive sausage rolls, special ‘pigs in blankets’ scotch eggs and a whole array of different cakes.

The menu is lots of lovely brunch type meals which you can add things to if you want, there are also gluten free and sourdough options too.

I opted for the most hipster of the lot, smashed avocado on toast with feta, crispy bacon, pea shoots and other lovely little herby leafy toppings and a poached egg on top. It was so tasty and much needed after no breakfast and morning yoga (goat yoga!).

The meal was so tasty and we also had a ‘pigs in blanket’s scotch egg on the side to share with piccalilli and that was scrumptious too. It was warmed up and a great blend of seasonal food!

I’m such a savoury girl at heart and this struck the right chord with me. It was well seasoned and just so yummy. I’ve not really had piccalilli before and this chunky version has made me a total convert.

I couldn’t wait to tell my Mum about my latest find. Afterwards I hopped on the phone to her and according to her it’s one of my Grandad’s best friend’s grandchildren that run Salt Cafe. It’s a small world and a very odd connection- ha ha!

The interior is super cute and was the perfect escape, it’s a gorgeous grey, with a mix of marble and wooden tables, lanterns and chandeliers. The soft lighting made it so cosy, very hygge, and super inviting.

There’s something eerily beautiful about the coast in this weather too, bleak but beautiful! Here’s a few more shots from the inside and out that really capture the vibe of the cafe and the wonderful location.

The rainy view from the window – it must be glorious in the summer!

I’m definitely going to bring friends and family to this lovely local hidden gem – I love supporting local! The food and coffee were so good and the location is unique and different. What a treat on a rainy day!

See you soon Salt Cafe!

P.S. Don’t forget to pop next door and visit the gorgeous shop which is full of lots of lovely items to lust after – you know the kind that you’d want in your house and that you see on Instagram!

FYI this is not an AD or a gifted experience – all opinions are my own as always (otherwise what’s the point!). I really enjoyed this ace cafe and thought I’d share it with you!
