Hello to the first true month of Winter and the kickstarter month to the new year ahead, it’s January, it’s cold, but we won’t let that beat us, let’s go!

📌 Windrush Portraits at John Hansard Art Gallery
📅 Until 5 February 2024
📍 Southampton
👉 Windrush Portraits is a transatlantic artistic collaboration with communities in both Kingston, Jamaica and Southampton, UK. Beginning in February 2023, artists Mary Evans (based in UK) and Michael Elliott (based in Jamaica) presented iconic artworks that highlight the legacy of the Windrush generation and migration on print and digital billboards across Jamaica during Black History Month in the Caribbean and USA.

📌 Shoes: Inside Out Exhibition at The Arc Winchester
📅 24 November – 6 March 2024
📍 Winchester
👉 SHOES: Inside Out is an exhibition featuring footwear from our past, dating as far back as 11 AD to the present. Through the themes of work, protect, play, empower, transform, identify and aspire, a highlight selection of 70 pairs of shoes from our collections, explore how shoes have shaped, and have been shaped by, society. From Georgian high society shoes to 1970s platforms and current high-end designer heels to everyday boots there is a shoe to fit all interests.

👉 HEARTH is a site-specific installation by local artist Suna Imre that acknowledges the precarious nature of our relationship with the Earth and the need to collectively bring about positive change, whilst simultaneously celebrating the beauty and wonder of the natural world.

📌 Present Tense Art Exhibition at God’s House Tower
📅 26 January – 03 March 2024
📍 Southampton
👉 Present Tense is a new exhibition bringing together work by four artists in the ‘a space’ arts 2023 Turning Point Bursary programme: Suna Imre, Carrie Mason, Joshua Raffell and Alec Stevens. Over the last six months, the artists have undertaken a period of self-led artistic experimentation with work now ready to exhibit.
