Winchester’s Nutcracker Trail has been put on by Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) and is a lovely way to see the Christmas lights.
Here’s everything you need to know about finding the nutcrackers and getting a good walk around Winchester…
Winchester’s Nutcracker Trail 2020
My family go every year and take a mulled wine around the market and to see the lights. As there’s no market this year Winchester have put on a Nutcracker Trail around the city.
It’s a great way to take in the festive lights around the main points of the city. And, stretch your legs with your daily exercise. After grabbing a mulled wine, of course!
I was actually so thankful to spend a couple of hours walking around looking for the Nutcracker statues. We went late at night to avoid any crowds or, well it’s 2020 so, any other people!
There’s not a lot of festivities on at the moment for obvious reasons. It’s been hard to capture that festive spirit in the same way I normally do. Have you been finding it hard too? It’s such a mixed bag for everyone.
If you’re reading this from outside the UK, at the time this went to publish, we are in different levels of tiers. It means different areas have different restrictions. As a result a lot of Christmas events and activities haven’t been able to go ahead this year.
The Nutcrackers
You’ll spot the Nutcrackers hiding all around the Winchester, there are 14 Nutcracker Kings to find in total.
Visit Winchester has a map marking the rough locations of each Nutcracker. You’ll need to find their names on the bases of each King.
The link at the bottom of the article will take you to all the information and downloadable trail maps.
At the same time as hunting for the Nutcrackers, keep your eyes open for the beautiful Christmas lights.
Once you find all their names you can find out how to enter the competition on the Visit Winchester webpage. It’s open until 4 January 2021.
You can also take selfies with your favourite Nutcracker. If you tag the @WinchesterBID and #FestiveWinch for the chance to be featured on their Instagram Stories.
