At the beginning of the year I turned my regular Friday Instagram Stories recommendations into a blog post for the new year.

Every Friday I’ll be sharing five things across Hampshire for you to do, eat or visit. Normally my suggestions cover everything from events and places to explore to places to eat and drink at. But, we’re in a National Lockdown so I’m working with what we’ve got and providing inspiration where possible.

This week, Things To Do In Hampshire 29 January 2021, I’m focusing on online classes you can take.

Not only will you upskill and practice a little mindfulness but you’ll also be support a local small business. Triple win.

1. Hampshire’s Eventbrite Classes

I mean I’m coming out the gate strong with this one for you. There are so many classes on all kinds of topics to suit all kinds of needs, paid and free.

Take some time and delve into what all these incredible people, businesses and local institutions have on offer over the next few weeks. From photo walks to ukulele classes there’s bound to be something to take your interest.

It’s the TK Maxx of online classes and it’s time to get rummaging to find a gem of an online class that suits you!

2. Lettering By The Sea Calligraphy Kit & Classes

Bridgette has so many different classes from traditional calligraphy to brush lettering and plenty of different classes and styles in between.

It’s worth having a browse of her website to have a look, and if you’re a beginner take a look at the ‘Click Calligraphy’ starter online classes.

She’ll also be sharing a few simple ideas on her Instagram page over the next couple of week to help you practise outside of class.

3. Amy Harwood Illustration Art Classes

Amy has a series of art classes starting from £5 coming up over the next few months that you can do using any medium online.

In October I did all of her classes and cannot recommend them enough.

I’m going to sign up to some of the new ones as they are perfect for unwinding after a long day at work, practicing mindfulness and learning some new skills.

The great thing about Amy is she caters for all abilities, and strikes a great balance between giving you guidance and letting you have your own creative freedom.

4. The Business of Making Seminar Series

The Business of Making Seminar Series is a free class from The Gosport Gallery via Hampshire Cultural Trust.

If you are looking to start or further your own business then this series of classes is for you. Delivered in a seminar style it provides useful tips on self-employment, income streams and setting up an online sales platform.

5. Discover the ‘Best of Hampshire’ in an online food Class

Well here’s a little gem I’ve uncovered, a seminar with two BBC MasterChef winners based who are based in Hampshire sharing their favourite food from the county! Take a look…

It’s also worth nothing that Hampshire Libraries Online Classes has lots of classes on an array of topics. You can find the full programme including both paid and free classes by heading to the Hampshire Libraries website.

And honestly, finding little gems like this to share with you is my favourite thing about writing this blog. It’s very tough being in lockdown in the UK right now but, being able to find people doing incredible things that you can take

Things to do in Hampshire This Weekend

Over the weekend I did a bit of a brainstorm and have plenty of new thoughts and themes to keep bringing you ideas of things to do in Hampshire. I’m so excited to write the next few weeks for you!

Things To Do In Hampshire 29 January 2021 edition is focused on online classes but you’ll find plenty of other ideas in previous editions of this series of posts.
