I’ve always wanted to go to this event, I’m not sure I’ll make it this year though. It’s always very popular and I love seafood, let me know if you’re going!

2. Battle for Britannia – Saxons invade Butser Ancient Farm

You can blame my Mum for my secret love of re-enactments. She was always taking me to jousting and battles at Arundel Castle or some battle in a field somewhere. Re-enactments are happening all weekend long, culminating in an ultimate battle at 2pm, as invading Saxons clash with resident Romans and Celts to claim victory over Butser Ancient Farm. 

If you’ve never experienced a re-enactment, now’s your chance!

3. Gilbert White’s 301st Birthday Party in Selborne

Over 22 stallholders, and live performances from Historical Huzzahs & Alton Fringe Theatre throughout the day. Garden tours hosted by Georgian Gardner Mr Oakley, and other special guests to wish Gilbert White a Happy 301st Birthday. It’s being celebrated a year later due to the pandemic.

4. Jane Austen’s House Anniversary Weekend, Chawton

Jane Austen died on 18 July 1817, aged 41. To mark the 204thanniversary of her death, Jane Austen’s House are celebrating Jane Austen’s life and works with a special weekend of events.

4pm/4.30pm: Mrs Elton’s Strawberry Picnic

Sunday 18 July:
All day: Dress Up Day
7pm: Virtual Tour

5. Foodies Festival in Winchester
