Things to do in Hampshire 11 June 2021

There’s not loads on this weekend which is understandable as lockdown’s just eased and most events for the summer are being carefully reviewed to see if they can still go ahead.

But, I’ve found a few nice things to pepper your weekend with, if you’re looking for something to do.

You are? OH WELL YOU’RE IN LUCK, here’s five Things To Do In Hampshire 11 June 2021…

1. Support Your Local Record Store on Record Store Day

Saturday 11 June

Record Store Day is your chance to get special releases musicians only make for this very occasion.

Lots of the records are limited runs and once they’re snapped up, they’re gone! It’s a really fun way to spend a morning if you’re into music. And, there’s usually a couple of goodies or freebies that you can take advantage of too.

It’s worth checking the details with the store you plan to visit because every store is different and some ticket the event, and there’s definitely going to be changes due to covid. So, make sure you know before you go!

If you don’t know much about Record Store Day, read my experience in 2019…

2. War On The Line, The Watercress Line, Ropley

From 10.30am-5pm on 12 and 13 June
Tickets required – Free parking in the field at Ropley SO24 0BL

If you’re a lover of all things 1940s well then ‘War On The Line’ is for you. Ropley Station on The Watercress Line is transported back to the Second World War with re-enactors, live music and vintage vehicles and displays.

I’ve not been but several friends have in past years and loved it. I can’t find where to get tickets from but there is a contact number and email address on the website, and it’s most likely to be the first place updated.

3. Go out for Breakfast or Brunch

When’s the last time you went out for breakfast? Get up early, grab the papers, a magazine or book and sit and enjoy the fact you haven’t had to cook and it’s not a bowl of cornflakes! Or, arrange to meet some friends for a long overdue catch up.

Hampshire has some utterly incredible places to eat and drink and these are my recommendations for breakfast…

4. Elephant Trail in Southampton and Otter Trail in Winchester

See the Elephant Parade at around Southampton and Westquay

See the Otter Trail around Winchester

Both cities have these cute vibrant animal trails to follow. I like seeing them about on my travels and they take in lots of city highlights on the route to see them all.

Fun, free and only around for a short time!

5. Red Hot Press Printmakers at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

Saturday 10am-5pm
Sunday 10am-3pm
No ticket required for the printmakers, tickets are required to access the gardens.

The Red Hot Press Printmakers exhibition showcases a range of member’s art and an array of printmaking techniques.

Tie this in with a visit to the gardens for a lovely day out.

This Weekend in Hampshire

Trains and otters and elephants, oh my! This week’s list is full of wholesome activities to inspire your plans this weekend.

Last week I actually took my own advice and went to the Winchester Walking Tour and the Raymond Briggs Retrospective. Both were excellent and I’m so glad I got to do and see them. They’re available this weekend if you’re looking for something
