The Liebster Award 2017

Bella Inizio, from the Beautiful Beginning Blog, has nominated me for The Liebster Award.

The Liebster Award is bloggers recognising other bloggers and encouraging people to discover new blogs, a bit like an online blogging form of chain mail. For a full run down of what it is, the rules and how to participate, check out this blog I found by Lorraine on Wording Well.

I had literally no idea what The Liebster Award was before Bella’s nomination. Apparently, me not knowing what the award meant is a sign that I’m still a newbie when it comes to blogging!

Bella writes about beauty, make up and reflections and has such a friendly tone to her writing which makes it easy to read. If you haven’t read her blog you can find it at Bella Inizio, Beautiful Beginning.

The rules of this award:

  1. Acknowledge blog who nominated you and display award;
  2. Answer 11 questions the blogger gives you;
  3. Give 11 random facts about yourself;
    I’m going to skip this. It’s better that the spontaneous randomness comes out unexpectedly and with impact!
  4. Nominate 11 blogs;
  5. Notify them of the nomination;
  6. Give them 11 questions to answer

Bella’s questions to me:

  1. How did you come to pick your blog name?
    I wanted something that represented my journey, that was wide enough to cover a range of topics and covered my life in the city. I didn’t want my blog to just be about PR, my life involves so many different things and passions that I wanted it to represent it all. It took me so long to think of a name but I think it’s really come into it’s own as I’ve developed the blog.
  2. Where do you see yourself and your blog in a years time?
    Hopefully in a year I will have grown a little, done some more press collaborations, some interviews and I’d really like to run a competition. I’d like to base the competition around PR – I just haven’t thought of something yet!
  3. What’s your favourite feature about yourself?
    Oh holy Zeus, I find these questions so hard. (Ten mins later) Errr…probably that I never give up. I’m a try hard.
  4. Do you have any little quirks?
    So many, where do you want to start?! I’m so weird. I sing, at the top of my lungs whenever I’m in the car. The problem is when I have passengers I find it really hard not to bust some tunes out, even though I sound like a cat who is in pain!
  5. What’s the most exotic destination you’ve ever been to?
    St. Lucia, it’s a paradise with cool, laid back Caribbean vibes, carnival and cocktails. The Piton mountains are magnificent and the rainforest is like being in a Planet Earth episode.
  6. What’s your favourite quote?
    “Comparison is the thief of joy” – I feel like this quote is applicable to so many situations. I try and say this to myself whenever I am comparing myself to others. It reminds me that my journey is my own, to enjoy the moment and to be present.
  7. Who is your celebrity crush?
    The Hemsworth Brothers. Hot damn!
  8. Do you have a role model/someone you look up to?
    Catherine Sweet, my Masters tutor, mentor, and a thoroughly good sort! She’s a real powerhouse, a woman with gumption, smarts and a PR guru. Look her up!
  9. What’s one good thing that happened today?
    I got to hug two of the people I love most in the world.
  10. You’re on a desert island, what are 3 things you couldn’t be without?
    Apart from the obvious food, water, fire and shelter, and excluding people. Music, friendship and love. (Oh and maybe learning – ssh, that’s four!)
  11. What’s your favourite high street shop?
    The one with coffee in it.
The Pitons, St. Lucia

  5. What’s the most exotic destination you’ve ever been to?
  6. What’s your favourite quote?

  1. Thank you for the nomination! I really like your blog as well. I have to figure out all the rules, but I’m going to get on this! Have you found that most people are accepting? I’m not sure how to go about finding people to nominate who will accept.

    1. The rules (in the link in the blog) say that you should pick up and coming bloggers or bloggers under a few hundred followers. But, this information is really hard to find. Lots of people I’ve seen break this and pick a range of people.

      I chose people that follow my blog and regularly engage with my posts, as a kind of thank you. They are ace blogs too, a diverse set of topics to read.

      I don’t think the rules are too strict. At first I really didn’t think this would be fun to do, but actually I loved it. It gave me a chance to read lots of lovely blogs, and connect with people that read my blog all the time. I don’t know anyone I nominated, I just read their blogs!

      It’s actually quite easy once you sit down to do it 🙂 I’ve only just posted this and notified people, so I’m waiting to see what the uptake is. It seems very popular on other people’s blogs. I think the most important part is to have fun! 🙂
