The Bee Hive describes itself as ‘Portsmouth’s smallest department store’. An online shop full of lovely eco-friendly homeware, clothes, art and jewellery.
Once a great addition to the independent scene in Albert Road, the shop has moved online to cope with the challenges lockdown and coronavirus have presented.

Once on the corner of Albert Road, The Bee Hive’s sunshine yellow vibes and pretty bee graphics can be found at The Bee Hive online.
Shop Online
Online the shop is neatly divided up to have sections dedicated to different things from clothes to eco products to jewellery.
It has been curated really well and offers something for the foodies, the art scene, the mommas and the green crowd.
Personally, I like how it stocks mostly local independent products. It’s really easy to know where the goods are from and that you are supporting the local community.
It’s the kind of place you can shop for a gift and instead put five things for yourself in the online cart! Well, that’s what happened to me anyway – oops!
I particularly like that fact you can perk someone’s day up and send them a ‘Letterbox Gift‘ – a parcel full of lovely items from The Bee Hive.
What did I buy?
I’ve bought a real variety of things from the shop so far. One of my favourite items are some beautiful hand printed bags that I use to put package free food in.
I then realise I can use these handy bags for so much more. I use one bag for camera equipment, another to put my cables in and a third for chargers. They are just so useful! The bags are a beige colour and have pretty suns and moons printed on them in lots of different patterns. They are great for organising kit on trips, especially when I have lots of things with me.
I really want to buy some of the gorgeous jewellery and art, there are some great pieces available online. There’s some cute things for children too. If you’re looking for a gift for a friend who’s pregnant, or has a young child you might find something lovely for them too.
You’ll need to bookmark the website because there’s always something new and interesting to discover.

You no longer need to be in Portsmouth to help support this independent small business and discover amazing local products. Just head online to find some cracking items from Hampshire creators.
The Bee Hive is charming and adds real diversity to Portsmouth’s online retail scene.
