Portsmouth is blessed to be a coffee shop mecca on the south coast. There’s tons of beautiful independent coffee shops spread out sporadically throughout the graffiti lined streets of Southsea.
A while ago I found Home Coffee, a gorgeous understated little place near the start of Albert Road in Southsea. And, its name does it justice, it feels like you’re at home.
This place oozes cosy coffee shop vibes. I love people watching and spending slow mornings reading, writing and drinking coffee. And, this is the place to do it!
People pop in and out for takeaways, there are other people pottering about their mornings and there’s the perfect window seat to watch the world go by.
Here’s a look at Home Coffee…

17You change your mind, like a girl changes clothes…
For the ever indecisive of us, and yes I class myself within this group, bottomless tacos, where you can pick any of and as many of the tacos as you like, is the DREAM!
And, that’s where Bonita’s Southsea steps in with it’s Taco Tuesday offer – it corners the market and conquers it. Actually it stamps all over the competition unapologetically while telling you you’re pretty and feeding you tacos.
Bonita’s has landed bringing its own blend of fusion Mexican food, humorous cocktails and Beyonce Brunches to the South Coast.
Heading to Portsmouth? You’re going to want to check this restaurant out because those tacos are hella-good!
And, don’t forget your camera because, Bonita’s is as pretty as a picture and you’re going to want to put it on your Instagram…

There’s not many places after school and University where you can go to learn, grow and find your identity.
I don’t know about you but I’m still evolving, I don’t ever think we stop. Weirdly, some people think this stops as we get older? And, there isn’t many spaces to explore your interests or who you are.
I’m so pleased that a new creative space for women has opened in Southsea – I’m so here for this!
It’s called The Liberty Lounge and, using their words, they’ve opened a ‘mind-gym’. I love this concept and can’t wait to see what they do with the space, how they’ll support women and what classes and workshops they’ll hold.
Take a look at The Liberty Lounge…

I love a good Friday night vibe and I had such a fun time catching up over burgers with a friend at Croxton’s Kitchen & Tap House in Southsea, Portsmouth.
It’s a great hang out, with a diverse menu and the bar is well stocked with an ever changing range of beers, ales and IPAs, not to mention a delicious range of cocktails!
Two burgers coming right up…

Portsmouth is a treasure trove of great breakfast and brunch spots. I feel really spoilt to have all these awesome independents on my doorstep.
Southsea Coffee is no exception and a stellar cornerstone of the local food scene, it’s been thriving since 2013!
Plus it’s within walking distance of Southsea Common and the sea front. There’s nothing like a brisk stroll along the shore followed by food and coffee. That’s how you win at weekends!

Is there anything better than a long, lazy brunch by the sea?
I’m all about the slow Sundays, catching up on my favourite reads and chatting with the best people.
One of my favourite places is Southsea Beach Cafe, it’s bang on the seafront in Portsmouth and its food is fantastic. This post is long overdue!

Becketts is the restaurant in Southsea that’s been recommended to me over and over again. It’s been a Portsmouth staple for the last 30 years but came under new management in 2016 and is thriving in the city’s vibrant food scene.
It has an excellent reputation and now I’ve finally managed to visit I totally understand the hype.

*TWO DOORS DOWN HAS NOW CLOSED*
It’s safe to say I’m completely obsessed with bao buns. After having them at Wagamamas my obsession grew during my travels to Australia last year. I tried to eat as many as possible in China Town in Melbourne, in Sydney and Perth!
I haven’t found many places in the UK that do them yet, especially not in the south! Although I’m sure there’s loads of places that do them in London before you start @-ing me.
Anyway, you’ll imagine my surprise when Henry and I were walking through Southsea looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled on Two Doors Down. Continue reading “Bao buns at Two Doors Down in Southsea *NOW CLOSED*”
