Pick Your Own Sunflowers at Hollam Nurseries in Titchfield is in bloom for summer 2020 the first time ever!
Move over lavender, there’s a new flower field in town and they’re taller, yellower and embody summer. Everyone from your next door neighbour to the influencers on your Instagram want in on this new and rather lovely experience.
The rise of the sunflower is in full swing and you’ll find Pick Your Own Sunflower experience popping up at a farm near you. Hampshire already has some amazing offerings!

Hollam Nurseries
While Pick Your Own Sunflowers at Hollam Nurseries is new, this will be a firm fixture in the farm’s calendar moving forward.
Sunflower fields that you can visit have been popping up over the past couple of years. It’s clearly the new lavender and expect to see it all over your Instagram feed.

Hollam Nurseries is based in Titchfield, Hampshire. Alongside the farm and small barn table top shop it has been opening with more seasonal pick your own experiences.
It’s literally huge fields with a tiny hut at one end that you pay at. It’s so open and there’s loads of room, so you can have a gentle experience without too many people (and get those Instagram friendly photos!).
Every year I try to visit Hollam Nurseries for strawberry picking but last year I went to pick pumpkins too. Take a look at the experience in my post ‘PUMPKIN PICKING AT HOLLAM NURSERIES‘.

Pick Your Own
This is something I’m more used to doing in the Netherlands than the UK. But, I’m loving the fact that these sorts of pick your own experiences are becoming more popular.

I love pick your own experiences, I like seeing where my food or flowers have come from. Taking joy in something so simple is calming and it’s a lot of fun. Reconnecting field to vase is a nice reminder of where the products in the shops are coming from.
This divorce from nature we’ve all been experiencing as our food and product purchasing becomes more mechanical and urban is not good. I don’t know about you but I always feel better when I’m outside connecting with my environment.

There’s nothing more lovely than seeing row after row of stunning flowers. Sunflowers, due to their height, are particularly impressive and striking.
Rows upon rows of lovely little yellow bouncing flowers heads isn’t something I’m going to forget in a while.
Hollam Nurseries is accessible, and there’s mostly flat terrain which makes it easy if you’re with humans of any age!

Sunflowers at Hollam Nurseries
If you’re looking for something fun to do this summer picking sunflowers at Hollam Nurseries is a pretty fun thing to do with your day. It’s also a really nice experience to share with someone else. So, if you’re looking to treat someone, this could be a nice way to do it!

Walking into the fields is just such a magical experience and I love it. I’ve not done a pick your own with sunflowers before and I wish I’d allocated more time to it. I’ll be going back, don’t you worry.

It’s £10 a car, for 10 stems. I don’t know if that’s expensive or not. I’m not a regular buyer of flowers, so I don’t really have anything to measure that by. You might be sat there saying ‘Girl, that’s a bargain’ so that’s why I’m saying I’m not sure if that’s a lot of money or not. You decide.
Picking your own sunflowers at Hollam Nurseries is open every day from 10-4 and you’ll need to take a pair of secateurs. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

Beautiful photos, and LOVE your outfit! X
Oh my goodness thank you so much! It’s new and I’m being braver with clothes and baring my legs. It’s too hot to cover up just because I’m self conscious and I must say it was quite nice wearing a swishy dress among the flowers – I’ve probably just set feminism back 20 years or something! 🙈🙈🙈 I think there’s a place to pick sunflowers on the IOW isn’t there?
Lol whatever you’re comfortable in is all that matters, and you’re so welcome! I need to take more pictures whilst we have this beautiful weather. Yes we have gorgeous ones at the garlic farm, I’m due to visit them this weekend, weather permitting xxx
I’m desperate to go to The Garlic Farm, I want to stay in a Yurt! Ha ha have a wonderful time – can’t wait to see your picture – have you ever done this before? X
I’ve been to the Garlic farm but never in the sunflower fields, we were meant to go this afternoon but plans have changed. Oh well! You know I’ve never stayed in a yurt but love the thought of it, let me know if this happens! Xx
Absolutely, one day! I had such plans for this summer 🙈ðŸ˜
Might still happen x
