Ruby’s Bar is another Rick Stein venture in Padstow. This charming and cosy bar offers a fantastic array of cocktails and curated spirits. Oh I do love a cheeky cocktail!
Bar
On the corner of Broad Street, just a few minutes walk from Padstow Harbour is Ruby’s Bar. I found it a nice place to go during that awkward time between the shops shutting and waiting for your dinner reservation.
Sometimes you can’t go back to your accommodation and this bar nicely bridges that gap as well as being a destination in its own right.

The spirit and cocktail list is vast ranging from familiar favourites to ones that will satisfy your search for something a bit quirkier. The cocktails named after places locally caught my eye and are a a nice tribute to Cornwall.
Keep your eye out for the cocktails, like the Nitro Espresso Martini, which are dedicated to various members of Rick Stein’s family. You can see these on the menu and it is a sweet, affectionate nod to his family.

The interior in an eclectic blend of sea faring flourishes, comfortable seating and nods to the town. Ruby’s is highly stylised, polished and very beautiful.

I had a big gin and tonic and picked an unfamiliar gin from the curated collection on the back bar. I also tried the gin highball, which is made with Tarquins Rick Stein Gin, Fennel, Pineapple and Bitter Lemon and is of course totally divine. Like a tropical, alcoholic lemonade which really gives you that holiday feel. You know me by now, I love a fancy cocktail!

Private Dining
Upstairs, hidden away are beautiful private dining spaces for hire. There you can order food from one of Rick Stein’s other business in Pastow, St Petroc’s Bistro.

Any additional restaurant space and places to eat in Padstow is highly valuable. It gets extremely busy all year round and if you haven’t booked for dinner the summer season, forget it. You’re better off heading to the local chippy.
Therefore private dining spaces that you can hire are welcome, just make sure you’ve booked a long time in advance. Everything in Padstow gets booked up extremely quickly, so make sure you reserve ahead of time.

The spaces predictably are slightly more refined versions of the bar downstairs. It has a modern elegance you’d expect to find in London, Brighton or Bath.

Huge skylights let in lots of natural light and there’s plenty of additional comfortable seating. If you wanted to plan something for a special occasion you could easily do so here. It is a glorious space!

Ruby’s Bar
There’s not many bars in Padstow, but there is plenty of pubs and restaurants, so Ruby’s really stands out because it offers something a little different.
It has a great atmosphere, the mixologists really know their stuff and the setting a gorgeous addition to Padstow’s food and drink scene.
