These walks have brought me a lot of joy over the past year, and I hope they do you too.
Pull on those boots, stretch those legs and dust off those cobwebs to get those happy endorphins pumping!
1. The Zig Zag Path, Selborne
Kicking off the Five Winter Walks in Hampshire list is a trail across one of the Hampshire Hangers and Downs.
I first discovered this walk in the lockdown of 2020 and the views from the top at Selborne Common are just beautiful. Make it as long or as short as you want.

2. The Winchester Water Meadows
Take in historic sites, glorious meadow views all just a short walk from Winchester city centre. This walk is a good loop or can be extended up past Winchester.
Take in Wolvesey Castle, The Hospital of St Cross and St Catherine’s Hill – climb it if you have the time!

3. Netley Abbey and Royal Victoria Country Park
Extend a walk around the stunning ruins of Netley Abbey by heading down to Royal Victoria Country Park. Take in the Solent, the woods and the chapel. It’s a firm family favourite too.
If open, the cafe is great for a takeaway hot drink to stroll around the grounds with.

4. The Wickham Water Meadows
A beautifully flat walk along the old railway line with views across vineyards, golf courses and Wickham.
Descend down to the actual water meadows which is off the track and down a steep, uneven staircase to access.

5. Walk Portsmouth To Find Street Art
It feels like every blank wall space in Portsmouth is filled with awesome street art from an incredible range of local artists.
The streets and areas in the post below take you to the parts of the city that are an open-air art gallery.
A free walk as long or as short as you want to make it, not far from plenty of cafes and Southsea seafront too.

Five Winter Walks in Hampshire
Hampshire has so many beautiful walks. These five cover a cross section of the county and might take you to some places you’ve not been before.
I’ve tried to pick ones that offer something a little bit different. These can be long or short depending on your abilities and are walks that are in easily accessible locations.
If you’re looking for even more fantastic Hampshire walks try National Trust Gardens and English Heritage sites. These are a great starting point for discovering some beautiful well kept scenery across the county.
