Cocktails and dinner at Cabana

Take a look at the delicious cocktails and food at Cabana at West Quay, Southampton. I joined the Southampton Bloggers for dinner and cocktails and it did not disappoint!

The second phase of Westquay is great in this weather, the open floor to ceiling frontage allows the most to be made of the sunshine and eating outside!

First up we were treated to some lovely cocktails, I chose the Calypso Colada which is made from rum, coconut syrup, pineapple juice and double cream.

There were lots of bloggers at this event that I’d not met before, so it was really lovely to chat with them over drinks.

Cheers!

First up I had the prawns followed by the guava-cue chicken skewer, churrasco french fries tossed in Brazilian steak-house seasoning and corn on the cob.

The prawns were unreal, not only were they huge but the meaty tasty flavour was top notch. I could have eaten these again! There were so many other starters I wanted to try too including the squid, halloumi and cheesy dough balls. An excuse for another visit – I like that the starters can be layered up to have as street food so you can decide between a tapas style sharing dinner or a traditional meal.

I’m not a fan of spicy chicken so the guava-cue, a really sexy barbecue sauce, was perfect for me. It was full of flavour and I’ll definitely have it when I go back next. It was super!

I’ve also become completely obsessed with corn on the cob, Cabana served the best I’ve had. It was obviously flame grilled and the flavour was sublime.

Here’s a look at the other bloggers meals, which all sounded delicious too – there’s a lot of pictures from here on in!

The spicy chicken skewers with peppers and rice

I was so tempted to have the halloumi skewers – they looked so good and the smell when they brought them out to the table was intoxicating. I knew I was hungry then, my stomach did back flips!

For me there was only ever going to be one choice for pudding, the caramel churros! Oh my goodness I love churros. The churros is excellent at Cabana as I’ve had it before, unfortunately this time it needed just a smidge longer to have been cooked all the way through, it was a tiny bit doughy inside. However, it was still edible and immensely enjoyable!

Others had the Amazon chocolate cake, a rich, dense, flourless cake which looked and sounded delicious!

It had been a long week and getting out and having a light hearted evening was just what I needed. The chicken was so good that I can’t wait to take Henry, my boyfriend, back to try it!

A huge thank you to the whole team at Cabana for a wonderful evening and some absolutely incredible food!
