Mi Cocina Mexican Food, Winchester

Mi Cocina Mexican Food, Winchester

Mi Cocina is one of the good things to have come out of the lockdown of 2020.

The new Mexican food takeaway has popped up at Bridge Street House in Winchester and I am a BIG fan. The city seriously lacks this type of cuisine. I am always in the mood for Mexican, one of my all time favourite foods. 🇲🇽

The food is simply incredible, take a look…

Hunter Gatherer, Portsmouth

Hunter Gatherer, Portsmouth

Hunter Gatherer is tucked at the end of Albert Road serving up all those Australian style cafe vibes. It’s one of the many amazing cafes that makes Portsmouth’s independent food scene really stand out.

The coffee is excellent, the food is vegetarian with vegan options too and the space so warm and welcoming you’ll want to hang out there all day.

A guide to artisan UK Flour Mills currently delivering

A guide to artisan UK Flour Mills currently delivering

Find the essential ingredient for baking with this guide to UK flour mills across the UK.

Lockdown has driven us to literally live our best Great British Bake Off lives. Have you been whipping up banana bread, pancakes and loaves? Because I have.

Flour is rarer than gold dust. Even Attenborough is impressed when he spies the lesser spotted bread flour.

It took me three weeks to get one bag of flour and it was the last one on the shelf.

That’s when it hit me, I need to go direct to the source.

Not having any luck at the supermarket finding flour? Well, have I GOT YOU!

I have put together the little black book of artisan UK flour mills selling by region.

Breakfast by the river at The Longholme, Bedford

Breakfast by the river at The Longholme, Bedford

Breakfast by the river is the best way to romanticise your Saturday morning meal. Fresh air, tasty food and a catch up with friends and family in a place that feels like you’re in a film, well that’s one powerful aesthetic. These are my favourite kinds of places.

In the quaint parks of Bedford hides a brilliant little cafe by the rowing club called The Longholme. It balances those smarter vibes with some more casual ones and could easily be the scene for a cute date or a family catch up.

Even drizzly mornings can be perked up with a couple of hours beside a beautiful riverside, add in food and you’re golden.

It’s a hidden part of Bedford that you’re going to want to put on your visit list…

Brunch at Home Coffee, Southsea

Brunch at Home Coffee, Southsea

Portsmouth is blessed to be a coffee shop mecca on the south coast. There’s tons of beautiful independent coffee shops spread out sporadically throughout the graffiti lined streets of Southsea.

A while ago I found Home Coffee, a gorgeous understated little place near the start of Albert Road in Southsea. And, its name does it justice, it feels like you’re at home.

This place oozes cosy coffee shop vibes. I love people watching and spending slow mornings reading, writing and drinking coffee. And, this is the place to do it!

People pop in and out for takeaways, there are other people pottering about their mornings and there’s the perfect window seat to watch the world go by.

Here’s a look at Home Coffee…

Lunch at The Hut Behind the Hedge

Lunch at The Hut Behind the Hedge

Rock has some great places to eat and The Hut Behind The Hedge is no exception – a great little lunch or snack stop!

In fact, the term ‘hidden gem’ is over used but this is one and not well known out of local circles. If you’re headed to Rock, support local and make sure you order a slice of cake.

Take a look at the bright blue cabin which is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area…

The Shore Restaurant, Penzance

The Shore Restaurant, Penzance

The Shore in Penzance is totally out of this world. Bruce Rennie is producing absolutely incredible food and I swear he’s well on his way to a Michelin Star.

He mans his kitchen every night alone, yes, you heard right he makes dishes for an entire restaurant of people alone! And, those dishes change depending on the local ingredients available locally every day.

He creates culinary masterpieces from the local catches and produce he sources from earlier in the day and has just a few hours to put a new menu together.

It’s unique, creative and some of the best food I’ve ever eaten – there’s a handful of meals that I will never forget and this is on it.

If you’re headed to Cornwall book a table at The Shore for an epic food experience…

Street Food at Outside-In Portsmouth

Street Food at Outside-In Portsmouth

ᵃᵈ Portsmouth’s warehouse street food venue has been a total hit since it opened last year. It’s a favourite of mine because of its chilled dining vibes, fantastic food and great entertainment.

Outside-In regularly changes up its independent street food vendors and there’s some new offerings added into the eclectic mix to try.

I was invited to review the food court and it laid on what can only be described as an epic feast!

If you’re in the city and looking for something that’s a little different, you need to head here, take a look why…

Bottomless Tacos at Bonita’s in Portsmouth

Bottomless Tacos at Bonita’s in Portsmouth

17You change your mind, like a girl changes clothes…

For the ever indecisive of us, and yes I class myself within this group, bottomless tacos, where you can pick any of and as many of the tacos as you like, is the DREAM!

And, that’s where Bonita’s Southsea steps in with it’s Taco Tuesday offer – it corners the market and conquers it. Actually it stamps all over the competition unapologetically while telling you you’re pretty and feeding you tacos.

Bonita’s has landed bringing its own blend of fusion Mexican food, humorous cocktails and Beyonce Brunches to the South Coast.

Heading to Portsmouth? You’re going to want to check this restaurant out because those tacos are hella-good!

And, don’t forget your camera because, Bonita’s is as pretty as a picture and you’re going to want to put it on your Instagram…
