The beginning of my year was spent in Australia and it was bliss. But, when I came home I realised we just don’t have the cool cafe culture the Aussies do.
I’m always on the look out for a new coffee place or a spot to spend a long lazy Sunday morning and South Coast Roast is my new favourite.
It’s really understated and just oozed relaxed Australian vibes, sweeping me back to my month in the sun. The coffee, food and music choices are superb and I literally can’t rave about this place enough. We need more places like this, and I really hope one opens in Southampton.
A few weekends before heading to Bournemouth I’d surprised Henry, my boyfriend, with a trip to Hoxton Bakehouse and this was his surprise for me. I think we’ve done very well finding two local gems!
The inside is industrial looking with a lot of wood, exposed brickwork, cascading foliage from a shelf that hangs from the ceiling and a big central table that several people or a group can sit around.
The staff are friendly and it’s rare I sit in a place and have to Shazam the music – I loved the new discoveries I heard in South Coast Roast!
After an amazing avocado and eggs on toast we knocked back a couple of coffees and a mocha. The coffee is really good there and they’ve got options for people following vegan and gluten free diets. I was gutted we didn’t get to try the vegan coconut bacon, it was sold out. I had to Google what it was – it’s shavings of coconut flavoured to taste like bacon, and apparently it’s really popular.
Here’s the breakfast menu, there’s also a board on the wall with lunches and more options for later in the day.
I’m so totally in love with Bournemouth. We head down fairly frequently and I love spending time by the beach. It’s one of my most favourite places. We took a walk along the beach to walk our breakfast off and get some fresh air. It was just what I needed and I can’t wait to go back to do it all again!
I knew we both loved it when we stomped back into town after our walk to pick up a drink for the drive home.
It was such a great day and I really needed it. My boyfriend and I had both had really hectic schedules over the week and taking half a day to spend time together was just what was needed. It was BEAUT!
I’d love to know where you like to go for brunch, walks and a time out? Have you been to South Coast Roast? What do you think of it?
