A Pint of Padstow is the shop front to Padstow Brewing Company, an award winning micro-brewery in North Cornwall sharing its love for beers, ales, pilsners and cider.
I’ve had many a good time drinking and making new friends in the shop come bar that’s right in the heart of central Padstow. Hello to a cheeky afternoon cider or two!
If you’re headed to Cornwall, this charming town must be you your visit list. It’s incredibly popular thanks to places like the Padstow Brewing Company. Here’s why…
The Brewery
The Padstow Brewery is an independent, small-batch brewery that started making ale initially. However, more recently it’s expanded into pilsner, stout and New England style Indian pale ale among other brews.
The actual location of the brewery is slightly back off the seafront which is open to tours and tastings.
Beers, Ales, Pilsners and Cider
While I’m not a stout or ale fan, I really like a pilsner or lager and the Padstow Pilsner is particularly crisp and refreshing. It even won Best Beer at the Great British Food Awards 2018 and Taste of the West Gold. And, those are just the start of the many awards the Brewery has.
Saying that there’s also a seasonal mango beer which is tasty which we had in the shop but I can’t seem to find it again. I can also recommend the 1881 lager too, much like a Pilsner it’s light and refreshing.
My favourite drink is in the range of ciders, the Elderflower Sunrise Cider is my number one. It’s a West Country apple cider, and again has a clean, crisp fruit flavour with that lovely elderflower finish.
Unsurprisingly, if you haven’t guessed now from my beer choices above these are the flavours and styles I lean towards. But, if there’s plenty of choice on offer depending on your preferences.
A Pint of Padstow
A Pint of Padstow was the first place I stumbled across when I visited the town. I revisited a few times throughout the day for a couple of drinks. I was on holiday after all!
The shop is just back from the seafront in Padstow’s main high street. It’s on the main road that you walk down into the town and it’s bright white front stands out from the colourful facades that grace the surrounding buildings.
A Pint of Padstow is stocked with all the products from The Padstow Brewery. It also has a small bar, shop and seating so you can enjoy a drink or two.
Downstairs is the bar and lots of products to look at with some seating inside and out, upstairs it’s all seating which is ideal for larger groups.
Top Tip – It has an upstairs but, you wouldn’t know it. If you think it’s busy, it’s worth checking to see if there’s space up.
It feels different to the other pubs and bars in the area. On one visit I chatted to some New Zealanders and spent a great afternoon sharing travel and brewery experiences.
Brewery Tours
If you’re looking for more of an experience, and like A Pint of Padstow, you can book tours at the brewery. An expert will take you on an hour and a half tour and beer sampling.
It looks excellent and while I knew about the shop I didn’t realise you could tour the brewery too. I think the tour would be really insightful because it’s not a huge company so it will definitely have a more personal touch. I’ll have to look into this for my next Cornish trip.
Padstow Brewing Company at home
A Pint of Padstow has some delicious drinks and homeware bits to buy. I definitely picked up a few different beers for my boyfriend, and some elderflower ciders for me to take home after our last visit.
A few of the gorgeous champagne glasses and candles might have snuck in the bag too. I mean just look at the shape of them below, they’re so beautiful!
I love picking stuff up from my travels as it has such great memories attached to it when you get them out to use them. I thoroughly enjoyed A Pint of Padstow and have been back many times since.

Thanks, yes, it’s flipping between very hot and very stormy here in the UK at the moment. Padstow is a big travel destination in the UK and the brewery is a quintessential slice of Cornwall, a glorious part of England. I’m a big fan of supporting local and independent companies too.
